The Story of Baraqah
Where the Himalayas meet the Loom
The winds of Changthang: Nature's Comb.
Our journey begins at 14,000ft above sea level.
The Six Stages of Luxury
Extraction
Ultra-fine cashmere fibre is gently combed from Changthang goats during their natural molting season, ensuring purity, softness, and ethical sourcing.
Spinning
The raw fibre is carefully hand-spun into delicate yarn, preserving its strength, warmth, and luxurious lightness.
Weaving
Skilled artisans weave the yarn into shawls on traditional wooden handlooms, a slow process that gives each piece its unique character.
Dyeing
The woven shawls are dyed using traditional methods, allowing rich, earthy hues to develop naturally over time.
Stamping
Motifs are stamped using temporary, washable ink to guide the placement of intricate embroidery.
Embroidery
Master craftsmen complete the shawl with fine hand embroidery, transforming it into a timeless work of art.
The Legend of Kani
Woven using small wooden sticks called 'Kujis', Kani is a labor of love that rivals the finest tapestries of the world.
The Needle & The Thread
Sozni Embroidery: A meditative process where a single shawl takes months to complete.
