The Pashmina Kani Shawl is renowned for its softness and intricate designs hand woven on Kashmiri traditional looms. This Shawl has a Gul-E-Bagwaan design created using 23 colors. It is woven reverse side up with nearly 210 Tujlis ( Pointed sticks used to create a Kani shawl) used to manually insert strands of weft, interlocking with the adjacent ones, as per the design. codes of the Talim to create a tapestry design.

Shri Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/o Shri Ghulam Mohammad Ganie was born on 05th March 1974 in Kanihama, District- Badgam, J&K. He learned the skill of Kani Shawl weaving from Shri Bashir Ahmad Lone. He has been weaving Kani shawls for the last 15 years. He received the National Award for excellence in “Kani Shawl” weaving. The shawl you are looking at is the one for which he was awarded.
